To use the Test Software (.exe) you will
need a file called: nodetalk.dll. This is a large file (bad news), but you
only have to download it once (good news). You may put it in your windows directory or in
a directory with your other LONWORKS software. So do it now. nodetalk.zip (135k bytes) You will also have to have one of
these LONTALK adapters, available from Echelon: SLTA/2 or PCLTA . DO NOT LOAD THE
ECHELON DRIVERS FOR THESE ADAPTERS.
Downloading files in
general

| Downloading files from this site is the same as most
sites on the internet. The files are "zipped" and are self extracting. However
if you are new to this, the following should get you through the process: Make some
directories on your hard drive for temporary storage of "stuff" you download. I
use aatemp1, aatemp2, and aatemp3. Make another directory called microsmith or microsm if
you are using 3.1. Click on the file you wish to download. The file will have a name, be
in a special color for "Hot Links", and will be underlined. A window will appear
asking you what you want to do. You want to "Save to Disk". Click on this. Then
you will see your Hard Drive directory. Heading will be Save To. Select one of the
temporary directories. Click on OK. The download will begin and you will see information
about what is happening. When it is finished the window will disappear. The file is now on
your computer. Move the file to a permanent directory. I suggest a subdirectory of
microsmith. "Double click" on the file and it will extract into this directory.
You can now use the file. |
